Donna Summer's estate is suing Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign for the unlawful use of "I Feel Love" on their album "Vultures 1."

Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign used an interpolation of "I Feel Love" on "Good (Don't Die)" for "Vultures 1" despite the estate's refusal to have it used.

Donna Summer Sues Kanye West, Ty Dolla Sign

Variety reported that the lawsuit was filed in California earlier this week. In the complaint, West and Ty Dolla Sign initially asked for permission to use some parts of "I Feel Love" on their song "Good (Don't Die)." However, they were explicitly denied.

Despite being denied, the two went on to use the song, at least the lyrics. They featured a female voice singing altered lyrics from the melody of the song.

Bruce Sudano, Donna Summer's husband, has publicly denounced the unlawful use of West and Dolla Sign's use of the song.

"@kanyewest asked permission to use Donna Summer's song I Feel Love, he was denied... he changed the words, had someone re sing it or used AI but it's I Feel Love... copyright infringement!!!" he wrote on social media. The song has since been removed (and returned, and removed again) on social media platforms.

Donna Summer Estate Denied Kanye West Copyright Because Of Checkered Past?

According to the lawsuit, Donna Summer's estate rejected Kanye West's request because of his "controversial history."

Several brands have recently dropped Kanye West and have suffered a crackdown from people because of his antisemitic remarks.

Apparently, West sought the copyright rights through an entity called Alien Music. Summer's estate denied the request, but he persevered and asked Universal Music Enterprises, but was still denied usage.

The suit fines West and Ty Dolla Sign $150,000 for each act of infringement.

As of this writing, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign's legal camp has not yet issued any statement.

'Vultures 1' Also Infringed Ozzy Osbourne?

Aside from Donna Summer, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign also infringed on one of Ozzy Osbourne's songs.

In an explosive post, Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne slammed Kanye West for using "Iron Man."

Like Summer, Osbourne denied West the right to use the song because of his checkered history, specifically his antisemitic stance.

Despite the controversy, "Vultures 1" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and even spent a second week at the summit.
