Multiple media outlets and artists confirmed that Debra Byrd, a famed "American Idol" and "The Voice" coach, has died at the age of 72.

Byrd left the world mourning after the news about her passing emerged. She notably worked with other A-list stars over the years, leaving a legacy that inspired others in the music industry.

What Was Debra Byrd's Cause of Death?

Byrd died on Tuesday, March 5, in her Los Angeles home, according to Deadline. No cause of death was given at the time of her death.

Her colleagues, fans and friends left heartfelt messages on their respective social media accounts to express their love and respect for the late vocal coach.

Jennifer Hudson wrote on X, "Heartbroken over the passing of Debra Byrd, the vocal coach on American Idol. She encouraged and supported us from the very beginning ! I am so grateful for everything she taught us. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy lives on through the music of countless artists she influenced during her lifetime. Rest in peace, Debra."

"This is one of the saddest days of my life. I just can't wrap my mind around Debra no longer with me," wrote Barry Manilow. "She was one of the most wonderful friends I've ever had. I will miss you forever, my love."

"Incredibly sad to hear "The American Idol Vocal Coach," Debra Byrd has passed away.@byrdstarschool was simply the best. The best human-being, the best road dog, and the best at bringing out the absolute best of any singer. Can't believe this is real. I love you Byrd!" a third wrote.

A Look at Debra Byrd's Career

Byrd dedicated her time to the industry working with other A-list stars like Kelly Clarkson, Bob Dylan and Fantasia.

She worked closely with Manilow starting as a member of Ladyflash, the singer's backup group.

In 2001, she scored a nomination for a Black Theater Alliance Award for "Could It Be Magic." Byrd also shared her voice on several Broadway productions like "Ain't Misbehavin," "The Human Comedy," "Haarlem Nocturne" and "Barry Manilow on Broadway."

In addition to being a vocal coach in several shows, she was tapped to guide the vocal production for NBC's 2019 Super Bowl tribute to Prince.
