Disney announced yesterday (Sept. 12) that they will be taking the Frozen franchise to the next level by making an amusement park ride based on the movie.

In a post on the Disney Parks Blog, Chairman Tom Staggs wrote that the ride will replace Maelstorm at Epcot's Norway Pavilion and it "will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film." Maelstorm, which has been around since 1988, will close on Oct. 5 and the Frozen ride is projected to be finished by 2016.

"The pavilion will also include a royal greeting location where Anna and Elsa can meet our guests," Staggs continued. "We think these Frozen elements are great complements to the Norway Pavilion, which showcases the country and region that inspired the film."

Staggs said that the movie's prescence will increase at Magic Kingdom later this year too. "Queen Elsa will use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night starting in early November," he wrote. Fans will also be able to see their favorite characters in Disney's Christmas parade.

The animated movie was released last year and raked in almost $1.3 billion in worldwide sales at the box office. In March, the film won Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song with the highly popular "Let It Go." Frozen fever has been sweeping the nation ever since with everything from parody videos to an ice skating show.

Disney announced last week that they will release an animated short titled Frozen Fever in theaters next year, and ABC's Once Upon A Time premiere (Sept. 28) will feature a live-action storyline following characters from the movie.
