Work on a sequel to Frozen, the biggest Disney hit in recent years, continues but fans might be surprised how short it is. Disney is releasing an animated short to tide them over during Spring of 2015 and yes, it will feature at least one new song. The announcement came during The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic, which aired on ABC September 2. The new "short" will be titled "Frozen Fever."

Normally an animated short isn't anything to get too excited about. Although the clips that have preceded nearly every Pixar film tend to be charming, they don't usually attract much attention. "Frozen Fever" deserves some special attention, at least from the music industry, because of the promise of a new tune from songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. That pair handled the songwriting for the original film's soundtrack, including the hit "Let It Go," which went viral the world over and has the downloads to prove it. The Frozen Original Motion Picture Soundtrack remains the best-selling album of 2014 by a long shot.

One has to wonder if the pair can pull it off again. They'll definitely have the vocal talent to make it work, considering that Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff will all reprise their roles for the bit.

There's no word on whether an actual full-length sequel is under consideration and there's also no word on what project the new short will open for. Either way, Disney realizes that the music behind the film is what will drive profits. The company is working on a Broadway musical version, a Disney on Ice adaptation, plus a DVD formatted for sing-alongs is dropping in November.
