Toby Keith was one of the pillars of the country music industry, which is why many musicians look back at their great moments with him when he was still alive. More recently, Keith Urban recalled his first meeting with the music icon, which was a hilarious encounter.

Nicole Kidman's husband recently appeared in an interview with Taste of Country Nights. In it, he recalled the first time he met Keith.

"I had written a song with a buddy of mine, it was a Christmas song, this was in early '90s, mid '90s. I had just moved to town, and we heard that Toby Keith had cut this song, recorded this song that we wrote," he said of one of his many stories about the late singer.

Since he wasn't that famous at the time, Urban was happy that Keith, who was already a big singer at the time, considered cutting a track that he wrote.

Keith Urban Met Toby Keith at a Bar

The musician said he was at a bar and spotted Keith in the corner drinking alone. He took the opportunity to approach Keith and introduce himself.

"I went over, and I go, 'Toby, hi. My name is Keith Urban, and I think you recorded a song I wrote. The song is called "Jesus Gets Jealous of Santa Claus," he recalled asking.

He was confused when Keith responded, "Huh?" So he repeated what he said the second time, and he only replied, "Yeah."

Urban asked him whether he liked the track, but the legend told him that he and his team "cut the song."

"He went back to his drink, and I just walked away," he added.

Fortunately for Urban, he was given an opportunity to meet the icon again years later, and their interaction was more fruitful than their first one.

At the time, the singer was invited to join Keith's 40th birthday on his tour bus, and for him, it was "a hell of a memory" as they ate at Steak 'n Shake at around 3 a.m.

Keith finally joined him in a booth, and they both enjoyed the food.
