Post Malone has entered his country music era, and what better way to kick off a brand new chapter of his career than honoring one of the genre's legendary artists; watch his performance below.

According to People Magazine, the musician recently performed at the American Rodeo in Dallas, Texas, over the weekend.

He poured out a red solo cup to pay tribute to Toby Keith during his set. He later played his massive song "As Good as I Once Was."

The singer/rapper, who wore only a pair of denim shorts, played the emotional song on his acoustic guitar. The live performance was later shared on social media.

Before the track's final chorus, he got the red solo cup, poured some liquid onto the floor to remember Toby Keith, and sipped.

What Happened to Toby Keith?

The world of country music was shocked when the news of Toby Keith's passing broke. He was considered a legend within the industry.

"Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5 surrounded by his family... He fought his fight with grace and courage," his family announced on social media.

The late singer shared his cancer diagnosis in 2022, and to focus on his well-being, he took a break for a few months, but he promised his fans that he would return soon.

He later performed a few pop-up shows in Oklahoma and even took the stage for the inaugural People's Choice Country Awards, where he won the Icon Award.

Keith also had three sold-out shows in Las Vegas.

Post Malone Entering Country Music?

The recent news comes after Post Malone teased about his desire to enter the country music industry. He told Howard Stern that no one is stopping him from setting up a studio in Utah "and just recording a country album."

The musician has been busy over the past few months. It was revealed that he recorded a collaboration with Brad Paisley and even took the stage at the CMA Awards with Morgan Wallen and HARDY for a tribute performance for Joe Diffie.

As of this writing, Post Malone has yet to announce when he's releasing his country music album. The last time he released a record was in 2023 with his fifth studio album titled "AUSTIN."
