After hiding a secret for a long time, Joe Lynn Turner of Deep Purple is finally living his truth as he embraced his alopecia and decided to ditch the wig for his performances. More recently, the musician finally revealed why he publicized his struggles with hair loss.

According to Blabbermouth, the singer had worn a wig since he was 14 years old because he had been diagnosed with alopecia at the age of three. The reason why he wore fake hair was to help with his mental stability after being bullied in school.

After decades of hiding the truth from his fans, he decided to ditch his wig and debut his bald head in a series of photos to promote his solo album Belly of the Beast.
