The Wallflowers will play their first Los Angeles show in more than 10 years on Oct. 2 with a special gig in which the Jakob Dylan-fronted band will perform their own 1996 album Bringing Down the Horse as well as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Long After Dark in their entirety.

"Coming back to L.A. after such a long time, we wanted to do something special and unique for our fans," Dylan said in a statement. "We decided to play what seems to be our fan's favorite Wallflowers album, and for us, we wanted to play one of our favorite Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' records."

As Dylan noted, Bringing Down the Horse is the band's most popular album. It featured the hits "One Headlight," "The Difference," "Three Marlenas" and "6th Avenue Heartache" and it went on to sell more than four million copies.  The Wallflowers also won Grammys for Best Rock Performance for a Duo or Group and Best Rock Song for "One Headlight" at the 1998 ceremony.

Petty & the Heartbreakers' Long After Dark was released in 1982 and includes the hits "You Got Lucky" and "Change of Heart."

Dylan had a long connection to Petty that likely began when Petty and the Heartbreakers toured with his father, Bob Dylan, on the 1986 True Confessions Tour. Petty later requested that Jakob induct him into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. They also worked together in the 2018 documentary Echo in the Canyon, in which Dylan starred and served as executive producer and Petty made his last on-screen appearance.

The L.A. date will wrap up the Wallflowers 2024 tour, which begins May 22 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. and hits theaters in a number of secondary markets.
