In the past month, music videos that prominently display some serious booty shaking have been released by the likes of Nicki Minaj and Jennifer Lopez. Now, metal band Mastodon wants a turn.

As Pitchfork points out, the Atlanta rockers debuted their music video for "The Motherload," a headbanging single from their sixth studio album Once More 'Round the Sun, today and have managed to take the crown for most bootylicious B-roll. At first, the clip seems like it's going in the direction of mysterious and creepy with some characters who wouldn't look too out of place in a Rob Zombie movie. And then, almost out of nowhere, there are babes twerking in slow motion. Sure, the creepy characters and the band are still around, but the video is equal parts jiggle and riffing. Perhaps Mastodon just wanted to prove that you can dance to the heavy stuff too. Or maybe they were just due for a booty video. Either way, it's about time metal got on the twerking bandwagon. Check it out below.

Guitarist Bill Kelliher spoke with Loudwire back in April about the new album. "It's not a concept record, but there is a theme going on," he said. "Once More 'Round the Sun is loosely based on the life and times of each person in the band during the past year. Each song kind of explains what has happened to each one of us in our personal journeys in life, outside of the band. Struggles and hardships, relationships and big change, almost being kicked out of our homes — just things that happen to everybody."

The band will hit the road Oct. 4 in support of the album.
