Rapper Tory Lanez asked a federal judge on Wednesday to intervene after his lawyers said correctional officers at California Men's Colony began retaliating against him with threats and intimidation after he filed a $100 million lawsuit alleging the state failed to protect him from a near-fatal 2025 stabbing.

According to AllHipHop, court papers say officers made direct references to the May 2025 attack — in which Lanez was stabbed 16 times at California State Prison, Tehachapi, suffering collapsed lungs and facial scarring — and used escalating harassment to pressure him into a more dangerous prison yard. The filing describes the conduct as "ongoing, immediate, and escalating."

"[Lanez] is receiving capricious violation write-ups for non-infraction activities which do not have a legitimate reason for correction, as these alleged violations only began after the filing of the underlying complaint," attorney Crystal Morgan wrote in the motion, adding that the alleged retaliation chills other incarcerated people from seeking redress.

Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, is serving a 10-year state sentence for a 2020 shooting conviction involving Megan Thee Stallion. As of May 2026, he has roughly six years and four months remaining on that term, the filing says. The California Supreme Court rejected his petition for review in February.

The emergency motion seeks a temporary restraining order that would bar a named officer from direct contact with Lanez except for routine prison functions and require that the two never be alone together. The filing also asks the court to preserve video footage, incident reports, emails and grievance records related to the alleged harassment.

According to an April report obtained by WTOP News, Lanez's team says the alleged retaliation began after he filed the $100 million civil suit against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation stemming from the Tehachapi stabbing. The emergency request does not ask the judge to decide the underlying civil claim; it seeks immediate relief to prevent further harm while the larger lawsuit proceeds.

A spokesman for the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Federal judges will now weigh whether to issue the requested temporary order.

Lanez's attorneys warned that without swift action, the alleged pattern of targeted write-ups and threats could culminate in serious violence. The motion asks the court to act to preserve evidence and halt the alleged conduct before the situation escalates.
