A Los Angeles judge has granted Sabrina Carpenter a temporary restraining order against an alleged stalker after the pop star described repeated and disturbing incidents at her home that left her feeling unsafe.
The order, issued after Carpenter filed court documents, requires 31-year-old William Applegate to stay at least 100 yards away from her, her home, her car, her workplace, and other protected individuals living with her. The singer also asked that the order extend to her sister and her sister's boyfriend, who share the residence.
In her declaration, Carpenter said Applegate appeared at her home multiple times over several weeks, including one "deeply alarming" incident on May 23, Rolling Stone reported. She claimed he trespassed onto a neighboring property to bypass security, reached her front door, and tried to force it open.
"[Applegate] fabricated the outrageous and entirely false claim that he personally knew me and that I was expecting him. This was a complete lie," Carpenter wrote in her statement.
She said that when he could not enter, he allegedly rang the doorbell, knocked, and refused to leave until police arrived. According to the filing, Applegate was later arrested for criminal trespassing.

Sabrina Carpenter Says She Feels Fear
Carpenter also described what she says happened after that arrest. She claimed he returned less than 24 hours later, stayed outside her home for hours, and appeared to monitor her movements from his vehicle. A day later, on May 25, she said he came back again and remained parked nearby until law enforcement was called.
"This is not the behavior of someone who stumbled upon my property by accident," Carpenter wrote. "This is intentional stalking and surveillance directed at me and my residence."
The singer, 27, said the repeated visits caused her "significant and ongoing fear," adding that Applegate's behavior showed a "dangerous, delusional, and irrational fixation." She also included ring camera screenshots and other evidence in her filing.
According to DailyMail, LAPD Detective Peter Doomanis supported the petition, writing that Applegate's actions showed signs of a "fixated, obsessional individual" and reflected a pattern consistent with escalating stalking behavior.
The declaration noted that suspicious activity may have started as early as April 20, 2026. The court has scheduled a follow-up hearing for June 17 to determine whether the restraining order will be extended. Applegate is also expected in criminal court on June 18.
Authorities confirmed he was arrested on May 24, then cited and released.
