Mariah Carey fans were so hopeful that her opening night of The Elusive Chanteuse World Tour would go off without a hitch. As Carey took the stage in Tokyo on Saturday night it became clear very quickly that the diva was way off of her game. She failed to hit her notes on "Always Be My Baby," "Vision Of Love" and "My All," and then appeared to forget the lyrics to "We Belong Together." Instead of great videos of her performance hitting the web the songbird's nightmare performance has popped up everywhere leaving many to ponder whether or not Carey was really ready to perform.

The last few months have been beyond difficult because her personal life has been dragged into the tabloids with constant speculation focusing on whether or not her marriage to Nick Cannon is on its last legs. He has confirmed that they are no longer living under the same roof and sources close to Carey have claimed that a divorce agreement has been worked on for months now. While the red tape may have been already worked out for the most part, that has nothing to do with the emotional impact on the singer.

Carey is known to throw herself into work when under heavy duty stress, it's like her comfort zone. It made perfect sense to see photos of Carey in rehearsal recently but that doesn't mean that she (or her voice) is ready to criss-cross the globe on a world tour. In fact judging from this past weekends' opening performance Carey may be pushing too hard to pull off a tour that she just isn't ready to handle, yet.

Do you think that Carey's Elusive Chanteuse Show is somewhat doomed because the singer's personal problems are truly affecting her work abilities right now? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
