June Shannon, matriarch of TLC's Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, shocked fans a few months back when she confirmed she and Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson had split after nearly a decade together. He is the father of Alana Thompson — Honey Boo Boo herself — and had stepped up to be a father figure to Shannon's other daughters as well. At the time of the split it was rumored Thompson was caught playing on a dating website, but even if that is true it is nothing compared to what Shannon has reportedly been up to. The future of the series is in question after it was reported that Shannon has been dating a convicted child molester.
According to TMZ, Shannon has reconnected with old boyfriend Mark McDaniel. The problem? He was convicted of child molestation of an 8-year-old in 2004 and was recently released after serving 10 years behind bars for his crimes. Apparently, McDaniel and Shannon were dating when he was convicted of molesting one of her relatives, and once he was released they picked things up where they had left them a decade ago.
Apparently Shannon has been sneaking out to meet with McDaniel for months now, and the situation was recently uncovered. TLC claims Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is not in production now, so it has no knowledge of Shannon's comings and goings but is taking everything into consideration. It is also reassessing the future of the series.
Could this mess be anymore screwed up? While Sugar Bear was as backwoods as it gets, he certainly was the real family guy Shannon claimed to want. How on could she choose to reconnect with a registered sex offender who was convicted of molesting a child the same age as her youngest daughter is crazy, don't you think?
