Soap opera stars have been grabbing headlines for a multitude of reasons lately. First there was the firing of Michael Muhney from CBS's The Young and the Restless because of sexual harassment allegations, and then we learned that two popular soap stars were headed to reality television. Eileen Davidson and Lisa Rinna are currently filming scenes for The Real Housewives of Orange County, which is scheduled to air on Bravo early next year. It was only a matter of time before a reality series comprised of daytime stars would hit the air, and we have just learned that a new project has been given the green light: Queens of Drama on POP, formerly TVGN

Queens of Drama is a new docu-series which follows a group of former daytime and primetime soap stars as they work together in an attempt to produce a new primetime, serialized drama to star in. Vanessa Marcil, Hunter Tylo, Donna Mills and Lindsay Hartley and others have signed on to do the show. They will be required to work together both in front of and behind the cameras as they also develop, pitch and produce a steamy series. The goal for the ladies is to land a pilot deal by the end of Queens of Drama's season.

The show will air on POP, a rebranded version of the TV Guide Network set to debut in 2015. Brad Schwartz, president of entertainment and media of POP, confirmed the addition of Queens of Drama to the lineup.

He said, "We couldn't be more excited to announce our first wave of original programming that will launch POP to the world in the new year. Our slate is filled with fun, fan-driven content featuring big stars and rising talent, as well as an optimistic spirit that celebrates audience passion."

This vehicle will allow fans to watch some of old favorites in action as themselves. What's also cool is that at the end of this a new series might be born, giving soap fans another show to enjoy. Are you glad Marcil, Mills and Tylo are headed back to television? Do you think Queens of Drama will work and pull in some decent ratings? Comment below.
