Clark McEntire, the father of country music Hall of Famer Reba McEntire, passed away on Thursday, October 23, in Oklahoma. Mr. McEntire had been in a nursing home as his health had gone downhill after suffering a stroke a few years ago.

Mr. McEntire was a Professional Cowboy and lifelong Rancher who was a member of Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. He was World Champion Steer Roper in 1957, 1958, and 1961. At the age of 19, he won the all around RCA Championship at the Pendleton Round up and to this date, is still the youngest person to ever hold that title. He and his wife Jackie had three daughters (Alice, Reba and Susie) and one son (Pake). He leaves them all, as well as 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren behind.

His funeral service will be held on October 29th in Kiowa, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to the family by emailing browns@atoka.net (please put Clark McEntire in the subject line). In leua of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Stringtown Legacy Foundation.
