When last we left Mr. Daniel Bumgardner, he wasn't writing Weezer. No, the young and restless director-cum-playwright had moved on--workshopping his latest theatrical endeavor, Honor the Father: A Musical Thriller in One Act.

Of course, there was one final installment of You've Got My Song: the [unauthorized] weezer musical left to post here on Classicalite. As he's done over the last six serials, however, Bumgardner was, once again, happy to oblige.

So, without further adieu (or tears or the gnashing of any teeth), we'll end it all now with Act II, Scenes 6 & 7. Or, as Daniel W. Bumgardner writes below: "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here" and "Butterfly."

Paul is still alone in his apartment. He speaks to a cello case.

PAUL: The world has turned and left me here, just where I was before you appeared. And in your place, an empty space has filled the void behind my face. I just made love with your sweet memory--1,000 times in my head. You said, 'you loved it more than ever.' You said, 'you remain, turned away, turning further every day.'

The world has turned and left me here, just where I was before you appeared. And in your place, an empty space has filled the void behind my face. I talked for hours to your wallet photograph. And you just listened. You laughed, enchanted by my intellect. Or maybe you didn't. You remain, turned away--turning further every day.

The world has turned and left me here, just where I was before you appeared. And in your place, an empty space has filled the void behind my face. You remain, turned away. Turning further every day.

The world has turned and left me here. Just where I was before you appeared. And, in your place, an empty space has filled the void--behind my face.

JON, SUSANNE & MARIA: Do you believe what I sing now? (x3)

PAUL: The world has turned. And left me here. Just where I was, before you appeared. And, in your place, an empty space...has filled the void behind my face.

PAUL & EVERYONE: Do you believe what I sing now? Do you believe what I sing now? Do you? Believe?

There is a knock at the door.

Paul opens the door. Maria has returned for her cello. He goes back to his chair. She picks up the cello and slowly moves to exit. As she reaches the door, she turns to look at him. He does not look back.

PAUL: Yesterday, I went outside with my momma's mason jar--caught a lovely Butterfly. When I woke up today and looked in on my fairy pet, she had withered all away. No more sighing in her breast.

MARIA: I'm sorry for what I did; I did what my body told me to. I didn't mean to do you harm.

MARIA & PAUL: But everytime I pin down what I think I want, it slips away--the ghost slips away.

PAUL: I smell you on my hand for days. I can't wash away your scent. If I'm a dog, then you're a bitch. I guess you're as real as me. Maybe I can live with that, maybe I need fantasy, a life of chasing Butterfly.

MARIA: I'm sorry for what I did; I did what my body told me to. I didn't mean to do you harm.

MARIA & PAUL: But everytime I pin down what I think I want, it slips away. The ghost slips away.

MARIA: I told you I would return, when the robin makes his nest. But I ain't never comin' back. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

JON: I don't wanna be an old man anymore.

SUSANNE: He's in my eyes, he's in my ears.

PAUL: Why are you so far away from me?

JON: But I'm shakin' at your touch.

SUSANNE: He's in my blood. He is in my tears.

JON: I like you way too much.

PAUL: I've got your letter...

EVERYONE: You've got my song.

BLACKOUT.

CURTAIN.
