It was a big year for movie soundtracks and singles. Today (Dec. 8), iTunes announced its top-selling songs and albums of the year, and Despicable Me 2's "Happy" by Pharrell Williams and the soundtrack to Disney's Frozen lead the pack, clocking bigger numbers than Taylor Swift's 1989 and mega-hits from John Legend, Katy Perry and Meghan Trainor.

"Happy" leads the best-selling songs chart from iTunes, according to Just Jared.

That should be no real surprise to those who follow the charts. "Happy" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks in the spring.

Other top singles of the year include other No. 1 hits: "All Of Me" by John Legend clocked in at No. 2 followed by Katy Perry's "Dark Horse." Other top-charting tracks on iTunes list include "Fancy" by Iggy Azalea (No. 5), "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor (No. 7) and "Rude" from MAGIC!.

The top-selling albums of the year, were, of course led by Frozen, which topped the Billboard 200 for 13 weeks in the first half of the year. Swift's 1989, which went platinum upon its release in October, was the second-best selling album of the year. Other top-selling albums came from Coldplay, Sam Smith, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran and Lorde.
