Although the song's title alludes to the infamous racetrack, Eric Church's single "Talladega" is about much more than that. The country singer illustrates that point in a new music video for the tune from his latest effort, The Outsiders. Church and his band perform at the finish line of the Nashville Speedway, but the real action comes from the imagery of a man recalling his entire life before he dies.

As Rolling Stone Country points out, the footage of the narrator's life reflects on the hospital wall behind him as Church and the band perform. The scenes of family gatherings, graduations and trips to the beach were shot with Super 8mm film, which adds a welcomed nostalgia to the video. Check it out below.

"We were laughing and living, drinking and wishing / And thinking as that checkered flag was waving / Sure would like to stay in, Talladega," Church sings during the chorus.

The song is the fourth single off The Outsiders, which came out in February. It follows "Give Me Back My Hometown," "Cold One" and the title track. The album hit number one on the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums charts.

"The album closes with 'The Joint,' which brilliantly conflates two subgenres: the stoner song and the burn-shit-down song," Rolling Stone wrote. "Despite the title and the skunky jazz vibe, it's not actually about weed. But that just makes its sly tale of a doomed honky-tonk more potent. Like Church's best songs, it's a story as old as the hills that sounds like tomorrow's news feed."

Church has a few dates left for 2014, but he will hit the road again in January in support of the album.
