The album that became an anthem for many of us in the '90s, Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill, is being re-imagined as a musical theater piece with the help of Broadway mastermind Tom Kitt.

Kitt brought Green Day's American Idiot to the stage and was behind the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical Next to Normal. Like Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Morissette has alluded to the fact that she might make an appearance as part of the cast as well.

"I don't know whether it would be me starting in the role or coming in at some point, but I'm totally open to the possibility of that," Morissette told USA Today, "I think once (the book) is written, it will become more obvious whether I was born to originate the role."

The show will likely have the same name as the album, according to USA Today, and will feature the classic hits, "Ironic," "You Oughta Know" and "Head Over Feet." In addition to the songs fans know and love, Morissette will be putting together new arrangements, thanks to advice from Vivek J. Tiwary, one of the producers of American Idiot

"It's not a concept album the way American Idiot was," Tiwary said. "But there is a woman in a relationship where the other person has more power. She ends up getting dumped, and is vilified, but comes to a place of empowerment."

Currently, in preparation for the production, Morissette is working on expanding the lyrics of her songs into stories. Once that is complete, the musical will be put in place and she also plans to put out another album. It's fair to assume she is too busy to have one hand in her pocket during this process.
