The Prodigy have been making the most of this Monday, Jan. 12. Earlier today the U.K. electronic band announced that they would be going on tour across the U.K. in May. Then Liam Howlett went on BBC Radio One with Zane Lowe to premiere their new single "Nasty" as the "hottest record in the world." Along with the premiere on Radio One, the band released the music video for "Nasty" on their YouTube channel. "Nasty" is the first single from their upcoming studio album The Day Is My Enemy that is set for release on March 30.

Howlett discussed their plans for the year and why they chose to do smaller theater shows in the U.K., hinting that an arena tour could be in the cards for the end of 2015.

"Nasty" has all of the hallmarks of a Prodigy song with jarring riffs, in your face vocals and powerful drums. It gets fans right back in the mood for more from the trio in the coming months.

In a statement, Howlett spoke about the creative process behind "Nasty."

"I can't tell you why this record came out so angry, I think it's just inbuilt in me," says Liam Howlett. "It's more about what I like music to do. I've always seen music I like as a form of attack. That's what I use music for, it's an attack. I didn't plan this album to sound violent, it's just the sound that came out of the studio, a kind of build up over the last 4 years. 'Anger is an energy,' that's a lyric which always resonated with me. The tension is buried deep in the music right from the first drop. It's all about the sound having that sense of danger. That's what The Prodigy sound is about."

You can download "Nasty" for free if you pre-order a copy of The Day is My Enemy now.
