Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has announced a brief run of North American tour dates leading up to his appearance at the Boston Calling Festival May 23. According to Alternative Press, the tour kicks off in Minneapolis May 15 and will also take Way to Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, Toronto and Montreal.

Other performers at this year's Boston Calling Festival include Beck, Pixies, My Morning Jacket, Ben Harper, Tenacious D, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, TV on the Radio, Run the Jewels and more. The festival runs from May 22 to 24 with three day passes selling for $175 — $375 if you are going VIP.

Besides these newly announced North American dates, Gerard Way is currently in the midst of a world tour, performing all across Europe, Japan and Australia from now until March 1. You can check out his complete tour dates through his website.

These tour dates come in support of Way's Britpop-influenced debut solo album Hesitant Alien, which was released in September 2014. Three singles have been released from the album: "Action Cat," "No Shows" and "Millions."

"All I want is a great first showing," Way told Rolling Stone about his album, "and then I want to follow it up right away ... the goal now is to always be making ... the goal is to start a new machine, just get it going, play a lot of shows, meet a lot of interesting people, pull the mask off a little."
