For some odd reason, Christmas singles don't sell. Although the Billboard 200 was full of suddenly-popular CD's containing boatloads of "chestnuts," the Digital Downloads Top 10 didn't reflect the same. Which isn't to say that popular music downloads did particularly well either.

A BORING TOP FOUR

We struggle to hide our boredom with the top four entries on this week's list because they're the exact same as last week.

Pitbull and Ke$ha saw falling download totals, but "Timber" retained the top spot for a second week, selling 193,000 copies. Eminem and Rihanna's "The Monster" stayed in second with 186,000 downloads. Both songs dropped 19 percent in sales.

"Say Something" by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera stuck at no. 3 with 165,000 downloads, but it could see a jump thanks to the pop duo's appearance on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show last night. OneRepublic kept the no. 4 spot, selling 146,000 copies of its "Counting Stars."

A SHUFFLED NEXT SIX

One Direction slid forward from no. 7 to no. 5 with its "Story of My Life," which sold 108,000 downloads. Fellow UK citizen Passenger sold 107,000 downloads of his "Let Her Go," moving from no. 8 to no. 6.

Lorde and "Royals" continued its very slow descent, dropping to no. 7 with right around 107,000 downloads. Imagine Dragons also slipped two places, ending up at no. 6 after selling 94,000 copies of "Demons."

Avicii jumped back into the Top 10 for the time being, moving 78,000 downloads of "Wake Me Up!" Katy Perry held tight to her no. 10 spot with "Roar," selling another 68,000 copies.

An interesting statistic for this week's Top 10 is that not one song saw an increase in sales. If you're looking to release a single, this is the time to do it.
