Kanye West is known to have a serious demeanor and a god-like ego, but there are times when he hangs out with the rest of us. Last night, Feb. 7, in Los Angeles, as he was leaving the House of Blues after a performance by Big Sean and during which he was brought out alongside Meek Mill and J. Cole, Yeezy was approached by an aspiring rapper on the street hoping to get a chance to have his moment to impress West. Kanye obliged with young man and gave the aspiring rapper an unofficial tryout by spitting a few bars, all the while Justin Bieber taunted him in the background.

The whole minute and a half encounter was caught on camera by TMZ because it follows Kanye everywhere. West seemed open to hearing the young man and the aspiring rapper, who gave his name as Grey, delivered some solid bars in the most high-pressure situation of his career. He seemed excited about what just happened as he walked away. As spotted by Complex, he has a decent following online and this episode will only help.

This is the type of hustle and initiative that will get him places. He might not be signed to G.O.O.D Music tomorrow, but crazier things have happened in hip-hop before. Remember what happened last year at the Grammys?

Kanye West, like almost all the music community, is in Los Angeles for the 57th annual Grammys. He is nominated for two awards for his song "Bound 2" from Yeezus and will be performing alongside Rihanna and Sir Paul McCartney on their track "FourFiveSeconds" during the ceremony.
