The end of 2013 is coming ever nearer, and while every publication is listing off its best songs and albums of the year, there's only one true mark of the biggest track of 2013: the people and, thus, the Billboard charts. Today (Dec. 13) the sales-tracker released the list of the top Hot 100 songs of the year. With a mere 11 songs hitting No. 1 this year, what track took the year's top spot?

The answer is: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Thrift Shop."

Yes, the funky, independent rap song that boats about popping tags and buying used coats beat out more excessive songs, including Robin Thicke's summer powerhouse single "Blurred Lines" and this fall's subdued debut from Lorde "Royals."

"Thrift Shop" was on the Billboard charts for an astounding 49 weeks in 2013, peaking at No. 1 twice - for four weeks (Feb. 2 - Feb. 23) and then again for two weeks (Apr. 6 - Apr. 13).

The track was interrupted by viral EDM sensation "Harlem Shake," which was No. 1 for five weeks and ended up as the No. 4 song of the year.

Of course, "Thrift Shop" is the top song of the year, but of course, "Blurred Lines," which held the No. 1 spot for 12 weeks, is right behind Macklemore at No. 2. Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive," which never reached the top spot of the Hot 100 but peaked at No. 3 retains that spot on the year-end tally. However, "Radioactive" absolutely slayed the rock and alternative charts throughout the summer.

Other songs on the top 10 include another Macklemore & Ryan Lewis offering with "Can't Hold Us," Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors," P!nk and Nate Ruess' "Just Give Me A Reason," Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man," Florida Georgia Line and Nelly's "Cruise" and Katy Perry's "Roar."
