The Pixies will play a concert in Israel this June, the Associated Press reports. This comes about four years after a cancelled show. Nidar Oz Communications & PR said the decision at the time was a result of the "tense security situation" in the wake of Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Back then the Pixies stated "We can only hope for better days, in which we will finally present the long awaited visit of the Pixies in Israel," according to The Jerusalem Post.

Now the band is ready to play Israel, for specific reasons they have not issued in a statement. Other musicians still will not perform in Israel because of the country's policies toward Palestine. This includes Elvis Costello, Brian Eno, Roger Walters, and up until now -- the Pixies. However, many artists have performed there, such as Elton John, Lady Gaga, LCD Soundsystem, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul McCartney, Rihanna and more.

According to the website, Soundgarden will also be in Tel Aviv on June 17 and 18, at Bloomfield Stadium. Frontman Chris Cornell has performed in Israel solo in the past. In a statement Cornell said: "I enjoyed performing in Israel so much in recent years, and I'm really excited to be returning finally with Soundgarden."

In the new year, more acts will be announced for the two-day festival. As for the United States, the Pixies will be hitting up a ton of states from January to March. Then the tour gets international with visits to South America and Europe. The band has been around since 1986 and parted in 1993, reuniting again from 2004 until present day.
