New Year's Eve is traditionally one of the biggest party nights of the year, and as we all know (those of us who are of age), parties can equal generously partaking in alcoholic beverages. Everybody has their drink of choice, but with inspiration from Drinkify, party playlists can be matched up with a particular beverage.

Some parties will be wild, rounds of shots and broken glasses, and others will be tasteful, classy gatherings, perhaps with the last remnants of the holidays still in spirit.

If you'd like to stick to the classic choice, champagne is always a winner for the countdown/ball drop, but there are other options.

Party Type in Music:

Pop: For a party that is celebrating the transition from 2013 to 2014 by rocking some of the many pop hits from this year, songs from artists like Haim, Lorde, Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Miley Cyrus, there are some particular drink choices, according to Drinkify. For tunes from the former 'N Sync member, the site recommends:

Cough syrup? That sounds like the worst drink ever, a real mind-eraser. Maybe stick to champaigne.

If you're listening to the Los Angeles sisters who made a huge name for themselves this year, you apparently will be getting some of your vegetables while you drink. Maybe this is a nod to the fact that they are still young and presumably growing?

Rock:  If you're keeping it cool and listening to some of the best new rock songs from 2013, maybe bands like Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys and Phosphorescent, you might end up pacing yourself, as Drinkify names a modest choice for the group behind "Reflektor." One PBR is recommended for both The Arcade Fire and Vampire Weekend, and Arctic Monkeys calls for a Rolling Rock. Maybe that's just for the beginning of the night. The Phosphorescent drink does provide a more exciting garnish, though:

Holiday Tunes: If you're one of those people who loves Christmas music and waits for the season all year long, you might not be done with your fix yet. Surely some will appear on a playlist somewhere, maybe including those from Bing Crosby, Michael Bublé or Mariah Carey. You'll have to be open-minded though, because here's the recommended drink if you're listening to Carey:

Pure Dance: NYE is the perfect time to let loose and just dance your heart out. Some of the best artists to give us tunes that just won't allow you to sit still are Prince, David Bowie and Michael Jackson. Even though alcohol is often consumed at parties, sometimes you just need pure energy to get your groove on and make it past midnight. For Jackson, Drinkify recommends:

Not sure about the nutmeg garnish, but it's straight to the point.

Calm and Classy: Maybe you're having more of a relaxed NYE party, listening to some of greats like Frank Sinatra or Billie Holiday. Drinkify recommends a reasonable, dignified choice for Sinatra (the same choice is made for Holiday as well), but it looks like you won't be having just one drink.

Here's to a safe and happy New Year (even if it might start with a hangover).
