U.K. electronic music producer Jon Gooch took over the BBC Radio One airwaves over the weekend with a blistering, two-hour Essential Mix under his drum-and-bass moniker Spor. Gooch just released his debut album as Spor last month titled Caligo after it was leaked three weeks before it was initially planned.
The mix coincides with what was expected to be the original release date for the album, but the two-hour masterclass on drum and bass is a powerful promotional tool for the Spor moniker. He includes a whole host of new music from Spor and also Seventh Stitch, his electronica persona that Gooch has said in the past he is looking to soon release a full-length project for.
This is what he had to say to introduce the mix:
"I work under various aliases but I have always worked under Spor. Drum and bass gave me my way into music and it was the first culture I was exposed to. As something of a misfit, the music gave me something I could really feel a part of. For my essential mix I wanted to make it a journey of how I've progressed as well as represent tracks I love, peers I respect, along with classics that always have an effect on me."
