DMX recently made headlines when claimed that he robbed someone. The rapper's lawyer has responded to the robbery claims, calling them "completely absurd."

As reported by XXL, DMX's lawyer released a statement Tuesday, April 7, in which the entire incident is called into question. Read the statement after the jump.

"He was leaving a show, a very successful show, and he stopped for gas. Four young men approached him for a photo. They took photos and they offered [DMX] drugs. He said no and told them to go ... They had an argument and next thing you know, they are accusing him of robbery. Just nonsense."

He went on to refer to the allegations as "completely absurd" and that "anyone who believes it makes no sense at all."

As it stands, the "Yonkers" rapper is a wanted man after being accused of allegedly robbing a man at a New Jersey gas station for $3,200 in cash.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after midnight, around 12:30 p.m., at a Newark gas station Sunday, April 5. A 21-year-old man told cops that the "Party Up (Up in Here)" rapper and his entourage took the money.

"DMX took the money, but the bodyguard was the one who glanced us [sic] at the handle of his gun," the alleged victim said.

He had recently cashed his paycheck.

"The two had a brief conversation about rap music, and during the conversation a male in DMX's entourage showed the victim a gun and demanded the victim's money," said Newark Police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Glover in a statement via NJ.com.

Newark police are still investigating the alleged crime and received a copy of the surveillance tape from the gas station. At this time, it is unclear what, if any, legal repercussions DMX will face.
