Now that Zayn Malik has split from One Direction, the question on everyone's mind is what the future of 1D as a foursome will look like and how long the group will last in this formation. Morgan Spurlock, the director of the group's 2013 concert film This Is Us, has now given his opinion on the situation. He believes that now that Malik has left, the boys probably have a few years before Harry Styles goes solo.

"I think they'll stay together for a little bit longer and I think at some point Harry will probably leave. He'll probably be next," he told TMZ. "Then Niall and Louis and [Liam]... I think those three guys are going to become like the new Bell Biv DeVoe," he said, referencing the trio who launched a spin-off band following New Edition in the early nineties.

Spurlock admitted that he was a little upset to hear of Malik's departure.

"I think all of those guys together were fantastic," he lamented. "They had something really special together and you can't fault Zayn for wanting to leave because I think people have to make their own decisions in life."

He went on to call Malik "probably the most talented guy in that group" and "an incredible singer" adding that "all of them are talented singers, that's why they were all put together but to make the decision to leave and go off on your own and chase a solo career in the midst of being as famous as you are, as successful as you are - you can't fault someone for that."
