The Internet has helped unlocked some of the greatest technological advances this world has ever seen and has brought people together like never before. However, with all of the great that the internet has done for humanity, it also allows the scourge of society to be heard in ways the weren't previously possible. One of these individuals thought it was a good idea to threaten CHVRCHES singer Lauren Mayberry with rape on Twitter. Whether or not they "truly" meant it is irrelevant, the thought and writing were disgusting and should be put down at every turn. She responded to this outburst with a post of her own, calling out the online commenter and challenging any misogynists in the process, saying, "women will not be shamed and silenced and made to disappear. I am not going anywhere. So bring it on motherf*ckers. Let's see who blinks first."

In an interview with The Guardian a few years ago, Mayberry spoke on women being objectified in society. She wrote, "What I do not accept, however, is that it is all right for people to make comments ranging from 'a bit sexist but generally harmless' to openly sexually aggressive. That it is something that 'just happens'. Is the casual objectification of women so commonplace that we should all just suck it up, roll over and accept defeat? I hope not. Objectification, whatever its form, is not something anyone should have to 'just deal with'."
