Mumford & Sons' new album Wilder Mind is right around the corner but the newly plugged in folk rockers aren't going to allow a leak to displace the rollout plans. Today (April 30), the "Believe" band released the fourth track from its Babel follow-up, the somber piano ballad "Hot Gates."

Though previously released tracks "The Wolf" and "Snake Eyes" had a build and a bite to them, "Hot Gates" starts off soft and slow and stays there. With piano notes and a tempo that nearly recall The Civil Wars' "Poison & Wine," and harmonies that feel lush and familiar, Mumford still are able to stray away from its folk roots by incorporating drippy electric guitars and hushed yet proud vocals from Marcus Mumford. The guitar sound is incredibly similar to "Believe," adding a smooth texture that is distinctively 2015's version of Mumford & Sons.

Lyrically, "Hot Gates" finds Mumford crooning about a broken relationship and not being good enough for his love, a heartbreaking and relatable notion. " And I can't be for you all of the things you want me to/ But I will love you constantly / There's precious little else to me / And though we cry, we must stay alive," he sings with noted sorrow.
