Tame Impala is prepping the release of their third studio album Currents. After having previously released the tracks "Let It Happen," "Cause I'm A Man," and "Disciples," the band is back with a new song called "Eventually," which explores the hardships of breaking up with someone and thinking it would have been easier had you never met.

"If only there could be another way to do this / Cause it feels like murder / To put your heart through this / I know I always said that I could never hurt you / Well this is the very very last time I'm ever going to," frontman Kevin Parker sings over hazy, ominous synth.

Speaking to Stereogum about the track, Parker said it's about "knowing that you're about to damage someone almost irreparably, and the only consolation you get is this distant hope that they'll be alright eventually, because you know they aren't going to be now or soon."

He also explained that Currents is about the process of personal transformation.

"It follows the progression of someone feeling like they are becoming something else," he said. "They're becoming the kind of person they thought they'd never become.

"This is meant to tell the story from the inside, like what's going on in their head and why they're seeing things differently and feeling like they go somewhere else mentally."

Currents follows up 2012's Lonerism and is due out July 17 via Interscope. You can preorder it here. The band is currently on tour in support of the effort.
