Perth, Australian rockers Tame Impala have been dropping tracks in preparation and celebration of their third studio LP release of Currents on July 17. Now, a 3D, mesmerizing animated video has been unveiled for the album's lead single 'Cause I'm a Man.'

Following their 2010 debut of Innerspeaker and their 2012 sophomore album Lonerism, Currents will see its release via Interscope--tracks 'Disciples,' 'Eventually' and 'Let it Happen' have all been dropped prior to release.

L.A. artist Weirdcore who has previously worked with Aphex Twin and The Horrors, directed the hypnotic video for 'Cause I'm a Man,' notes Pitchfork. "Visually for me, the video is like a kind of homage to Hipgnosis artwork, as I feel Tame Impala's music is suited to that look and feel. Tame Impala's new artwork was a great inspiration for the vibe of it. I happily threw in as many artwork cameos as I could from that. Technically the constant moving camera was an ideal way to show near non-moving scenarios, long takes and minimal editing is something I'm always into doing. This is the first 3D video I've made where none of the 3D was modelled for it. All assets were either bought/found/acquired/customised from various sources, so it's a bit like a 3D collage," Weirdcore said.

NME spoke to Tame Imapala frontman Kevin Parker about Currents and its new direction in sound. "I wanted to make something that from the sound of it could be down at the club. I just realised that I'd never heard Tame Impala played somewhere with a dancefloor or where people were dancing," said Parker.

"Listening to [our music] was very much a kind of headphone, solitary experience," Parker added. "Which is cool, but I've moved on from that. I've always loved listening to music on my own, but there's another side of me that is just fascinated by... like Goa trance, for example - just a rave on a beach in India, you know? Where there's someone that's spinning the music and it's just this free-flowing continuous energy."

Tame Imapala will hit the road in the UK and Ireland for tour dates later this year at Electric Picnic Festival, End of the Road Festival, Glasgow Barrowland, Liverpool Olympia and Isle of Wight Bestival.
