Armin van Buuren is one of the biggest DJs in the world. His resume includes five artist albums, 12 compilation albums, over 700 episodes of one of the largest electronic music radio shows in the world, "A State of Trance," and headlining slots at almost every big festival in the world. He is widely heralded as the "king of trance" or the "god of trance." Even with all of that success, the Mirage producer has not taken much time to sit back and enjoy the view at the top, rather working hard on new albums, live shows and side projects. The father of two young kids says he "is more productive then ever." Just after EDC New York, we had the chance to interview Armin to discuss his side project with studio partner Benno de Goeij, Gaia, the future of A State of Trance festival, his upcoming album, his label Armada Music and much more.

Armin van Buuren was in New York City to perform the night of Friday, May 23 at EDC New York and was back in the Big Apple for two long days of interviews. Speaking on his performance at EDC, Armin noted his competition on the other stages including Hardwell. "I gotta say I was surprised by the reception because I was up against Hardwell who is extremely popular, but I was wrong and extremely excited about my set."

Despite having a bothersome case of conjunctivas, the Dutch powerhouse still sat through two full press days and was very welcoming to us as we sat down with him for a short chat in his hotel room at the Dream Hotel Downtown.

Armin has a lot of big projects currently under way in his career, but none possibly as important as his upcoming artist album, which is just about done. He just needs to get the final paperwork signed on it. The lead single, "Another You," featuring Mr. Probz was released in May. The collaboration came together very easily in fact as Armin describes.

"I met Mr. Probz at the BUMA/STEMRA Awards, which is the Dutch collecting society, like ASCAP. They give an award for most played track on Dutch radio, most played track in a foreign country etc. I met him there because he won awards for his track, 'Waves,' and I won awards for my track, 'This Is What It Feels Like.' We met up there and said 'Maybe we should do a track together so we can be on stage next year together.' "Another You" is from his upcoming artist album, which the Dj says he got "too ambitious again" with this one. Watch the interview below.
