It seems as though that announce John Mayer Trio gig during the first week of Late Night With Seth Meyers won't be a one-off thing. The blues rock group consisting of John Mayer, Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino will be reuniting to record a brand new album.

Following yesterday's (Feb. 12) Late Night announcement, Mayer took to his newly reincarnated Twitter account to confirm the performance and announce an all new project. "Excited to announce that the TRIO will be performing on Late Night with @sethmeyers on its debut week... as well as hitting the studio for a few days with some legendary guests to record an LP," he wrote in a series of tweets.

No word on who those "legendary guests" will be, though.

The John Mayer Trio is largely praised as one of Mayer's best musical efforts to date. The band first (and last) joined together in 2005 with the album Try! and toured throughout the year.

The new album will obviously be the John Mayer Trio's first effort in nine years, but the second album in just as many years for Mayer himself. He released the country-infused solo album Paradise Valley in August of last year.

The John Mayer Trio will perform on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday, Feb. 27.
