Ariana Grande has officially apologized for her comments saying that she hates Americans and America. In a video that leaked earlier this week, the "One Last Time" singer was spotted licking donuts and canoodling with her potential new boyfriend Ricky Alvarez when she declared that "I hate America" as a tray of fresh pastries was brought to her. Now, she's said she's sorry for her words and that she only hates one thing: obesity.

In a statement to Buzzfeed, Grande said that she's new to being a public figure and that she needs to "strive to be better." In the meanwhile, she also admitted that she is not a fan of American's overconsumption, citing childhood obesity rates.

"I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I've always made it clear that I love my country. What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words," Grande said in a statement, before saying that she doesn't hate America, per se, but hates obesity.

"As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole."

Grande also dismissed recent rumors that her cancelled spot at the MLB All-Star concert was because of her "I hate America" statement. Instead, she blamed her emergency oral surgery. She has since been replaced by Demi Lovato.
