Ariana Grande's "donutgate" seems to be the scandal that just won't die this week. After the "One Last Time" singer was spotted in pastry shop with backup dancer/possible boyfriend Ricky Alvarez licking unpurchased donuts and saying "I hate America," both the pop star and Wolfee Donuts are under police investigation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the leaked video of Grande in the donut shop has launched a health and possible police investigation. The reason for the investigation, be it why the video leaked or whether or not the donut shop was violating health codes, is unclear.

And though Grande claims to have purchased donuts from the shop, employee Mayra Solis has a different story, saying neither Grande nor Alvarez bought a pastry and that "she was really rude."

The controversial video has proved to be quite the issue for Grande, who apologized for her behavior and "I hate America" statement yesterday (July 8). According to the 22-year-old singer, it's not her country that she hates so much as unhealthy eating and childhood obesity.

"The fact that the United States has one of the highest child obesity rates in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies," she said. "However I should have known better in how I expressed myself; and with my new responsibility to others as a public figure I will strive to be better."

After the incident, Grande pulled out of the MBL All Star Game concert, though she cited recent oral surgery as the reason.
