Jeremih was charged with a DUI early Friday morning, July 17, in Los Angeles. To make matters worse, the DUI occurred on the "Planes" singer's 28th birthday, which was supposed to be the release date of his third studio album, Late Nights.

He was pulled over at around 2:15 AM by California Highway Patrol in the San Fernando Valley. He spent the rest of the night in jail and was released at 11:00 AM this morning (July 18) after posting $15,000 bail.

TMZ, who broke the news on Jeremih's DUI, also reports that once he was out, he drove to San Diego, where the b-day celebrations continued at Parq Restaurant & Nightclub. We're guessing the R&B star had to watch his cash flow after his costly bail -- and the legal fees that will likely follow.

Late Nights has supposedly been in the works since 2011. Numerous release dates have come and gone, the latest one being yesterday, July 17.

Jeremih hasn't spoken on his DUI, or whether it had anything to do with the missed release date.

When released, Late Nights will be his first album since 2010's All About You. We know the album will include "Don't Tell 'Em," last summer's smash hit with L.A. rapper YG, as well as "Planes" and "Tonight Belongs to U!," the two singles Jeremih has released in 2015, featuring J. Cole and Flo Rida, respectively.

Friday's DUI isn't Jeremih's only recent run-in with the law. He was arrested last December at Newark Airport for trying to sneak on a plane after the final boarding call. About a week before that, things got violent at a Montana Fuddruckers...

Hopefully Late Nights will redeem the wildly talented Chicago singer.
