Chicago has got a boatload of rappers representing it. Huge names such as Kanye West, influential emcees like Lupe Fiasco, and acclaimed up-and-comers like Chance The Rapper. We admit that one name goes hand-in-hand with the Windy City like none other, and for all the wrong reasons: Chief Keef. That rapper may soon be heading west from his hometown however.

This report comes from TMZ, not the most rock solid source for anything, but it does feature  supposed commentary from Keef's attorney, who said the performer would be moving from Chicago to Los Angeles soon. The rapper has just completed rehab in Orange County, supposedly for addiction to marijuana. The rapper himself suggested that his recent poor output was the result of lean (a mixture of codeine, sprite and jolly ranchers) consumption...something we understand to be far more addictive than marijuana.

The reason for the move hasn't been explained, but then again Keef himself hasn't commented on the reported move. The rapper has always seemed to take pride in his Illinois background, and is seen as the foremost figure in Chicago's violent "drill" rap genre. There's the possibility that Keef is transferring to Los Angeles to be near his rehab facility, but that seems unlikely considering the rapper compared rehab to being incarcerated. California is also a less-than safe option for a recovering drug addict to move to, as pointed out by Jerry Cantrell in Alice in Chains' single "Check My Brain."

Keef has at least one more commitment in Chicago for the time-being: He has a court appearance on February 28 to check his progress after rehab. After that, we have no ideas. If Keef actually leaves the city, the drill scene will need to scramble to find a new head, and Los Angeles may need to start bunkering down.
