Yesterday (July 22) marked the five year anniversary of One Direction, believe it or not, and Harry Styles marked the occasion by penning an open letter on his Twitter to the fans, crew and supporters who have helped them along the way.
In a series of three tweets, Styles gave the behind-the-scenes crew that aids 1D a moment in the spotlight as well as all the Directioners who gobble up anything related to One Direction.
We have been a band for five years. And it is impossible to thank anyone enough for all the support they have given us over this time..

For those who don't remember, One Direction first formed together on the U.K. talent show The X Factor. After initially auditioning solo, Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and now-departed member Zayn Malik were put into a group together, which eventually became One Direction.
Since then, 1D has gone on to what is basically global domination. The boy band has released four albums (starting with Up All Night in 2011 to FOUR last year) and gone on several worldwide arena tours. The band's untitled fifth studio album is due for release by the end of the year.
