Last week, One Direction fans were shocked when it was revealed that Louis Tomlinson had gotten his friend Briana Jungwirth pregnant. Now, the news is all but 100 percent confirmed, and 1D's manager Simon Cowell has opened up about the surprising news, saying that it's "a plus, not a negative."

Cowell, who admits to having many bad calls in his life, said that Tomlinson is actually in a good situation with his friend and future child. In an interview with The Sun, he said that most 23-year-olds would be unable to care for a new family but that Tomlinson is in a privileged position.

"I said to him, 'You man up. You're fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that,'" Cowell revealed. "But I also told him, 'I've received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I'm here for you.'"

Cowell, who himself became a father for the first time last year, also dismissed the idea that Tomlinson's baby news is even controversial, bad or newsworthy, nothing that babies are conceived and born constantly."

"He didn't kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it's a plus, not a negative," he said.

And, lord knows One Direction has faced other scandals over the last year, including the departure of founding member Zayn Malik (who later feuded with Tomlinson on Twitter).
