Kanye West's controversial headlining set at the Pan Am Games' closing ceremonies ended abruptly and unceremoniously on Sunday night (July 26). After facing technical issues with the sound, the "All Day" rapper threw down his microphone after 13 minutes of his performance and stormed off stage, cutting the show short.

West took to the stage in Toronto and performed a medley of hits, Billboard reports. He kicked off his set with "Power" before launching in to "Black Skinhead" and "Can't Tell Me Nothing." The big, hit-heavy setlist then continued with his 2005 smash "Gold Digger" and "Touch the Sky."

West's performance, however, was cut short before he could wrap up the medley with "All of the Lights" and "Good Life." According to a statement later released by the Pan Am Games, West faced technical issues. In traditional West style, he didn't take the difficulties easily. Instead, West threw the mic into the air "like a shotput" and stormed off the stage without so much as a goodbye or thank you.

West wasn't the only performer to take on the closing ceremonies for the 2015 Pan Am Games. Canadian singer Serena Ryder and Latino rapper Pitbull also performed. The athletes from the 41 competing nations also paraded into the stadium in Toronto.

However, West was the performer to bring the most controversy with him, which given his track record, was to be expected. Ahead of his headlining set, a petition circulated on Change.org, calling for West to be replaced with a Canadian musician such as Drake, Shania Twain or The Weeknd. The petition got over 50,000 signatures, but obviously West's set went on as scheduled.
