It's been three long years, but Silversun Pickups is back to rolling out new music. On Thursday (Aug. 6), the "Lazy Eye" rockers unveiled the first taste of its new album Better Nature in its lead single "Nightlight." In true Silversun Pickups style, the track was accompanied by a highly cinematic and mildly creepy music video starring Boardwalk Empire actress Meg Steedle.

The nearly eight-minute long visual features Steedle as a woman on the search for revenge. Opening up with a lengthy monologue about living in her darkness and killing a man "for he saw me for who I was." From there, the video is an exploration of Los Angeles, sexy murder and escaping a past that may or may not be able to be forgotten.

The video is a stunning work, which should come as no surprise; Silversun Pickups tapped Mark Pellington to direct "Nightlight," the man best known for making Pearl Jam's legendary "Jeremy" music video.

As for the single itself, the signature Silversun Pickups sound is ever-present, despite it being nearly 10 years since the band broke out with its debut album Carnavas. Against sludgy guitars and a bassline that creeps and carries along the flow of the song, lead singer Brian Aubert brings his distinctive airy, powerful and throaty voice. It's the unique balance and against the poppy rock landscape of 2015, Silversun Pickups lead the way for thrashing stadium anthems yet again.

"Nightlight" is the lead single from Silversun Pickups' forthcoming album Better Nature, which is due for release on Sept. 25 via New Machine Recordings. Better Nature will be Silversun Pickups' fourth album overall and the band's first release since 2012's Neck of the Woods.
