UK producer and DJ, Julio Bashmore, has released his debut artist album, Knockin' Boots. The album is packed with soulful, nostalgic (but also ageless and forward thinking) house tunes that are grounded in a strong groove, but come together with an irresistible hook.
Bashmore first announced the album in April and has since been very slowly teasing bits from the LP, including the single, "Holding On," which has turned into a chart hit in the UK.
Coming in at 12-tracks, the LP is packed with a lot of different vocal features to provide the hooks that are so crucial to his songs. He hooks up with J'Danna on three different tunes, while also tabbing BIXBY to lay down some vocals for another two. Up-and-coming American R&B vocalist, Sam Dew, was instrumental on the single "Holding On" while also stepping outside of the box with South African rapper, Okmalumkoolkat.
Bashmore first broke onto the scene in 2009-2010 with a series of singles and EPs, including the self-titled Julio Bashmore EP on Dirtybird Records. His 2012 single, "Au Seve," was one of the biggest house records of the year and an Ibiza favorite all summer. He was fittingly chosen by Disclosure to remix their new Caracal single, "Holding On," with Gregory Porter.
