As Jay Rock just dropped the tracklist and cover art to his upcoming album, 90059, it's release should be right around the corner. However, the album is available for pre-order, and on iTunes, the expected release date is listed as May 20, 2016. Are fans seriously going to have to wait another eight months for Jay Rock's first album since 2011? Not exactly. It all depends on the number of pre-orders. TDE CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith maintains that the album will come as soon as fans want it to.

Tiffith shared the unorthodox promo scheme on Instagram, telling his followers that the "90059 release date in the palm of y'all hand." Tiffith has a few certain "realistic" goals for the album's pre-order numbers, and as each goal is met, "the release date will automatically move itself up." When he shared the post, he said it the album arrive the next day, if fans make it so. Well, it's been two days since Tiffith put 90059 up for pre-order, and it's still not here.

Tiffith says fans are getting closer, though, and the release date has already moved up three months. It's unclear if that means the current, unfixed, release date is now some time in February 2016, as the original May date is still listed on the 90059 iTunes page.

Two days ago, 90059 had reached No. 13 on the iTunes top albums chart, but now, two days later, it's down to No. 30. There are seven albums available for pre-order that currently rank ahead of Jay Rock's, including those of Lana Del Ray, The Weeknd, Travi$ Scott and 5 Seconds of Summer.

The last TDE release was Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly. Tiffith predicted the album would sell 1 million copies in its first week. While it may be one of the best albums of the year, over five months later -- it still hasn't reached 1 million. Hopefully Tiffith's goals are more realistic for 90059.
