The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas is gearing up to drop his second solo album. Today (March 6), he debuted the trippy, punk rock influenced trailer for his new effort alongside The Voidz.

Comprised totally of "found footage," the trailer heavily features punk-influenced music with an edge that is much, much harder than his last solo effort, 2009's Phrazes For The Young.

The new trailer is certainly mysterious, divulging only sludgy bass lines and muddled lyrics instead of a more clear cut vision of what Casablancas' new effort could be.

Instead of the electronic-led vibe of his last album, his upcoming effort seems to take a harder, purely old school garage rock take on music, leading the way for new territory for The Strokes' singer.

The grainy footage that accompanies the teaser features not only performances from Julian Casablancas + The Voidz but also images of destruction, riots and plenty of trippy colors.

Julian Casablancas' new album has yet to receive an official title or release date, but it is expected to come out on his label Cult Records sometime this year.

It will be his first solo effort in five years, though the world has heard new music from Casablancas more recently. He not only teamed up with Daft Punk on "Instant Crush" last year, but The Strokes also dropped its latest album Comedown Machine in 2013.
