EDM fans, except for the ones that hate Skrillex, were surprised to find Monday night that the dubstep DJ would be releasing a new album a lot sooner than they expected. As in, right at that moment. Those who had downloaded an app titled "Alien Ride" from Skrillex's website received access to a new track titled "All Is Fair In Love And Brostep." As the night continued, the other ten tracks from the album Recess were released, and previews became available on iTunes. The album is available for sale on March 18.

The launching of a surprise album has already become a been-there-done-that thing for the music industry, as Beyoncé's latest album blew the world's mind and Kid Cudi's recent release was significantly less exciting. The album from Skrillex is another story because the DJ has never released a full-length before, despite being one of the most recognizable names in EDM. So far the performer has just released EP's, and that seemed enough to back up his recently announced "Mothership" tour.

We haven't given the album its due diligence yet, but one theme we can identify from the tracklist is a multitude of guest stars. Only two of the 11 tracks feature Skrillex by his lonesome, and jungle duo the Ragga Twins make multiple appearances. Two tracks look especially promising based on guests alone: "Coast Is Clear" features Chance The Rapper and The Social Experiment, and "Dirty Vibe" packs in additional programming from Diplo, plus a K-Pop power collaboration between G-Dragon and CL from 2NE1.
