Lauren Mayberry, the front-woman of electro-pop band Chvrches, has been vocal in the past about her policy of intolerance towards misogyny and she put it to practice earlier this week when she called out a man who shouted out "marry me" at a concert.

During a quiet moment at her New York City Central Park Summer Stage performance, the man yelled out the desperate phrase for attention that we've heard from obnoxious fans all over the country and directed at just about any and every musician with a minutia of fame.

"Oh, come on. What's the hit rate on that?" Mayberry shot back at the man. "I assume, because you're here, that you know a bit about our band. And I'm very grumpy. I don't want that sh**."

According to Stereogum someone else from the crowd yelled out, "Why are you grumpy, Lauren? What's wrong?" She promptly responded by giving him the middle finger before launching into her song "Playing Dead."

Watch the exchange below.

While this kind of thing might happen all the time (to both female and male pop stars) it's refreshing to see Mayberry tackle the problem directly. She admitted that in this particular scenario she was fortunate to be the one holding the microphone, but that's how these things go, the person in power gets to use it to push their agenda.

Chvrches latest album, Every Open Eye, dropped on September 25 via Glassnote to a mound of critical acclaim. The band's synthpop style has pushed the way for popular acceptance of the style while also gaining the accolades of music critics, making for a dangerous combination as they continue to rise to pop stardom.
