We've all heard the comparisons. Their accent, their hairline, even their gesticulation is almost identical. Thus, Larry David, answered the calls of fans and voters across the country and impersonated Bernie Sanders on Saturday Night Live this week. As The Gothamist reports, people were extremely happy to see Larry David play this role on live television. One woman proclaimed "I would vote for Bernie Sanders if Larry David agrees to play him on Saturday Night Live for the next eight years." In fact, many had envisioned Larry David in the role long before he appeared on SNL. The View even tweeted, ""He needs to Curb His Enthusiasm!" - ‪@michcoll says of Bernie Sanders, who she thinks sounds like Larry David."

The sketch--a cold open--parodied the democratic debate and included appearances from Alec Baldwin as Jim Webb and Kate McKinnon as Hillary Clinton. Baldwin focused on Webb's irritation over his lack of speaking time and surprise regarding Anderson Cooper's tougher questions. McKinnon did an excellent job of parodying Clinton's seemingly fabricated public persona, as well as her indifference to criticism from Lincoln Chafee. However, it was clear that Larry David stole the show, and created the next phenomenal political impression in the cannon of SNL greats.

His impression included actual quotes from the debate, but was funniest when he drifted off into rants about elbows and geese. After being accused of promising voters a "golden goose," he explained to his competition, "I can find the goose. I've found geese before, and I can find them again. They congregate near ponds. It's not rocket science." To which McKinnon responded, "Wait, do you guys like this? I'm not losing am I? As SomeeCards reports, David was briefly a writer for SNL, only to quit and return as if nothing happened, inspiring the famed Seinfeld plot.
