Jesus Christ Superstar has been revived for 2014 and it's getting the arena tour a rock opera about Jesus deserves.

The lineup features a number of big names, putting an emphasis on popular vocalists to handle the various roles. Among them: Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child will play Mary Magdalene, Brandon Boyd of Incubus will star as Judas Iscariot, J.C. Chasez of *NSYNC will play Pontius Pilate, and in the most curious casting of the production, John "Johnny Rotten" Lydon of Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd. fame will appear as King Herod. The title role will go to a slightly less established performer, Ben Forster. The vocalist will be best prepared for the play however, having played Jesus during a similar tour in 2012.

Jesus Christ Superstar was first staged on Broadway in 1971, winning five Tony awards. The production marked the first collaboration between renowned writer Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, a team that would later produce Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat and Evita as well.
